Chelsey Davillier’s work is situated in a psychological landscape of immersion. Her work is primarily autobiographical and representational, depicting her current realities. Through active presence, she engages in the practice of recording realities. She utilizes intensification of form and and sensibility to color as anchors to the present that act in defiance against dissociation. Color, position, and crop are explored through her compositions along with the gaze. Through these formal elements, she signals the vulnerability of presence. Occasionally, she uses architectural objects and natural phenomena as counterpoints to the figure, allowing them to engage in dialogue.
